Background

The Challenge

Akilah Releford Gould was ready for her next chapter. Known for building Mary Louise Cosmetics and Lucky Girl Wine, she had already proven her ability to create category-defining brands. But her personal brand where her influence, lifestyle, and entrepreneurial voice converged, needed a stronger foundation.

Her ambition was clear: to become a modern authority on home, hosting, wellness, and intentional living. A kind of lifestyle guide for her generation. But unlike traditional icons in the space, Akilah wanted to infuse this world with her own voice, one that was stylish, warm, culturally fluent, and distinctly herself.

The challenge was to create a brand that carried the elegance and timelessness of “coastal grandmother” aesthetics, while leaving room for Akilah’s wit, authenticity, and modern flair.

01. Our Insight

Most lifestyle brands fall into two extremes: aspirational but out of reach, or relatable but too casual to carry cultural authority. Akilah had the rare ability to bridge both.  Embodying elegance and expertise while speaking in the language of her audience.

Our insight: Akilah was creating a modern blueprint for intentional living. One that blended heritage and craft with a voice that felt current, inclusive, and culturally connected. By framing her not as “the next Martha Stewart,” but as the first Akilah Releford Gould, we could give her a platform that felt authoritative yet approachable, aspirational yet human.

02. Brand Creation

We positioned Akilah’s personal brand as a lifestyle platform rooted in authenticity and elevated by design. The strategy was to build a classic, elegant identity system.  Florals, embossing, timeless typography, rich neutral tones, paired with a digital voice that carried her personality: warm, witty, and modern.

The website became the hub of her world. Each section was crafted as an entry point into her lifestyle philosophy: weddings, hosting, cooking, home, and curated shopping. The experience balanced editorial polish with interactivity, giving users tools, tips, and content they could immediately apply to their own lives.

Design details reinforced her positioning:

  • A brand mark and typography system that felt premium and enduring.

  • Photography that mixed styled elegance with lived-in moments of family, food, and community.

  • Copy that carried her sass and warmth, ensuring the brand felt as personal as it did polished.

The result was a brand that could flex across channels, from digital content and ecommerce to live events, collaborations, and publishing, all anchored by a strong, cohesive identity.

03. Brand Application

The brand came to life across platforms:

  • Website – A modern, editorial-style hub that invited visitors into Akilah’s world, complete with recipes, hosting guides, curated product picks, and resources like her Lucky Bride Toolkit.

  • Packaging & Products – Assets designed to extend seamlessly into her existing ventures like Lucky Girl Wine and Mary Louise Cosmetics, as well as future product collaborations.

  • Social Media – A visual and verbal language that allowed Akilah to shift fluidly between everyday relatability and polished lifestyle storytelling.

  • Community Tools – A membership program, curated content drops, and event invitations that reinforced her positioning as both lifestyle guide and community builder.

Instead of a brand that stopped at surface aesthetics, we built a foundation she could grow into. The identity and website gave Akilah immediate credibility as a modern authority on lifestyle and hosting, while leaving room for her voice, products, and community to expand. From flower petal sprinkles to curated home collections, every element was designed to scale naturally with her.
