Accessibility (a11y)

Accessibility, often shortened to a11y, refers to the practice of creating digital content, websites, apps, products, and brand experiences that can be used by people with a wide range of abilities. In digital design, accessibility can include readable text, strong colour contrast, keyboard navigation, descriptive alt text, captions, clear page structure, screen reader support, and forms or buttons that are easy to understand and use.

For growing businesses, accessibility is important because it helps create more inclusive, usable, and effective customer experiences. An accessible website can make it easier for more people to engage with a brand, understand its message, and complete important actions such as reading content, submitting a form, booking a call, or making a purchase. Accessibility also connects closely to UX design, brand experience, and content marketing, because each one shapes how clearly and confidently people interact with a brand online. When accessibility is considered alongside website design and growth strategy, businesses can build digital experiences that are easier to use, more consistent, and better aligned with long-term growth.
