Background

The Challenge

Milton Coffee Co. had a strong product, but the website was not fully communicating why the brand belonged in a more premium category. Their customizable coffee machines carried a higher-end price point than many competitors, yet the digital experience was not doing enough to reinforce that value.

The opportunity was not to change the brand entirely, but to mature how it showed up online. The client wanted to retain their existing branding and photography, while elevating the application of both. The site needed to feel more considered, more sophisticated, and more aligned with the quality of the products themselves.

At the same time, the entire redesign and launch had to happen within a strict 30-day timeline. The ecommerce experience also needed to work harder. Product features and custom finishes had to be showcased more clearly, product pages needed a stronger system, and the overall website had to balance premium perception with usability and conversion.

The result was a full redesign and Shopify build that helped position the brand with more confidence and clarity. This challenge reflects a familiar tension in premium branding: when the product is strong, the digital experience has to rise to meet it.

Our Approach

01. Discovery

We began with discovery and creative exploration, focusing on what a more elevated digital identity could look like for Milton Coffee Co. Because the client wanted to keep the existing branding and photography, the challenge was not reinvention. It was refinement.

We explored how to apply the brand in a more sophisticated way, introducing new graphic elements and stronger UI direction to support a more mature visual language. This phase helped define how the brand could better express premium value without losing the familiarity and equity already in place.

02. UI Refresh

Once the new direction was established, we expanded the work into both design and messaging. Alongside the redesign, we developed updated copy for the homepage and other key sections of the site to better communicate the product story, brand values, and differentiators.

The goal was to create a website that did more than look elevated. It needed to speak with more confidence. Through a clearer verbal structure and a more polished interface, the brand began to feel more in line with the quality of the machines themselves.

03. Ecommerce Build

Because Milton Coffee Co. is an ecommerce brand, the website needed to function as a scalable system, not just a collection of pages. We designed both general static pages and dynamic templates for the product experience, ensuring the site could showcase the full catalog in a way that felt consistent, premium, and built for growth.

Once approved, the website was built in Shopify using a template foundation that was then heavily customized to support the desired UI, animations, and product structure. This included building a more dynamic system for product pages, supporting product data migration into the new Shopify environment, and integrating a third-party “design your own” experience that extended the site’s functionality while keeping the user journey cohesive.

Just as importantly, the product template system was built to support scale on the backend. With automated organization and a more flexible structure in place, the Milton Coffee Co. team can now upload large volumes of products far more efficiently as the catalog continues to grow.

04. Optimized Rollout

During development, we also structured the backend with SEO and PageSpeed optimization in mind, ensuring the site was better equipped for visibility, performance, and long-term growth. The final result was not just a visual upgrade, but a stronger ecommerce foundation built to support both brand perception and discoverability.

Milton Coffee Co. now has a website that better reflects its place in the premium coffee machine market. The new experience feels cleaner, more mature, and more intentional, with a stronger presentation of products, features, and overall brand value.
